BROADCASTERS' BIOS

The weather is my life! I have had an endless passion for the weather ever since I was a very young child growing up in Edina, Minnesota. Throughout my whole childhood I knew I wanted to be a meteorologist, well that's not completely true, there was a brief moment in first grade when I wanted to be a firefighter, but I got over that quickly. Nobody knows what sparked off my passion, but I was always watching the clouds, tracking storms, and loving every minute of it.

Now I am a twenty one year old senior atmospheric science student at the University of North Dakota following my dream of becoming a broadcast meteorologist. I plan to graduate in December of 2002 with a degree in atmospheric sciences and pursue broadcast meteorology as a full time job. Aside from Studio One, Prairie Weather Update, and RiverWatch, I am the weekend weather anchor for KVRR Fox TV in Fargo, ND. When I'm not inside studying the weather, I like to be directly in the weather and spend as much time as possible on my family's boat in the Twin Cities. I LOVE the weather and can't get enough of it!

Ever since I can remember weather was something that I naturally had an interest in. From growing up in the heartland of America and living as far away as the Land of the Midnight Sun, I have experienced just about everything that Mother Nature can dish out. Now living in Red River Valley of the North studying meteorology at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, I am able to completely surround myself with everything weather. This area offers such a wide assortment of extreme weather it makes it the perfect learning environment for any weather lover. Once I graduate, I would like to continue my studies in Meteorology in graduate school and then eventually work my way into a permanent job in the field of broadcast meteorology. I have loved to talk about the weather for so long, I figured it wouldn't hurt making a career out of it.

As for what I do when I'm not in front of the books or the camera, I love to fish just as much as I love the weather. I am also very interested in stock car racing, cooking, and just about any sport you can name. I have never been known to turn down an opportunity to go out and chase one of the many storms that rage across the seemingly never ending prairies of the northern plains.

Name: Rebecca Albrecht

My name is Rebecca Albrecht, but most people call me Becky. I am from South Saint Paul, Minnesota. I am a 20 year old Atmospheric Science major at the University of North Dakota. My fascination for weather probably started when I was 5 years old but I did not know that I wanted to be a meteorologist until I was about 15. I love severe weather, when a big storm would go through our area my dad and I were always in the porch or outside watching the lightning and looking for funnel clouds. Right now I am not sure what I want to do when I graduate from UND. I would like to get experience in different aspects of weather such as weather broadcasting, chasing storms and meteorological research.
