ATWIS State & Transportation District ForecastsInformation provided by UND Aerospace Regional Weather Information Center North Dakota ForecastsSouth Dakota ForecastsThe Advanced Transportation Weather Information System (ATWIS) project is designed to provide short range weather and road condition forecasts to the traveling public, commercial vehicle operations, and state Departments of Transportation.An accurate and timely forecast of weather/road conditions are expected to greatly enhance both the efficiency and timeliness of maintenance planning and road maintenance responses. North Dakota is divided into the eight transportation districts, while South Dakota is divided into thirteen transportation, both shown in the maps. These forecasts are provided each day not later than 8:00 am CST. These products provide an overview of the weather for the affected region for that day. In addition to the district forecasts, a state-wide forecast is also produced each day. More info on ATWIS |
